Talkeetna River Boat Launch

Directions from Anchorage to the Talkeetna River Boat Launch

Driving time:  Approximately 2 hours & 15 minutes

Leave Anchorage heading North on Glenn Highway (6th St. turns into Glenn Hwy ).

Travel approximately 35 miles where you will come to the junction of the Parks Highway and Glenn Highway.

Stay to the LEFT on the Parks Highway. It will take you straight through Wasilla and head you toward Denali and Fairbanks. Do not take any exits.

Continue through Wasilla on the George Parks Highway. Go through the towns of Houston and Willow.

Continue on the George Parks Highway to approximately Mile Marker 99. You will come to a Green sign on the RIGHT hand side of the road that says , “Talkeetna”. You will see a visitor center and a bear statue.

Take ‘Talkeetna Spur Road’ for approximately 14 miles. Turn RIGHT onto Second St. (You will see an airport sign)

Cross the railroad tracks and turn LEFT onto “F” St. (First left) Follow this road for approximately 1/4 of a mile. You will pass the Swiss-Alaska Inn (On your LEFT).  As soon as you pass the Swiss-Alaska Inn, turn LEFT at the Talkeetna Boat Launch & Campground. (There is a $6 parking fee.)  We will meet at the small log cabin across from the large log cabin, to get waders on you.

You will need to bring along your fishing license (with a King Salmon Stamp if fishing before July 14th) and whatever you would like to bring along for lunch or snack.  We will provide the rest!
